Поймал себя на том, что если встречаю у какого-нибудь известного актёра с русскими корнями русскую фамилию в сочетании с нарочито нерусским именем (у которого не существует русского "перевода"), то возникает чувство неправильности.

Вот "Алекс Денисофф", "Питер Устинофф" и "Майкл Дудикофф" - нормально: они Алексей Денисов, Пётр Устинов и Михаил Дудиков. А "Мэнди Патинкин" и "Мори Чайкин" звучат как-то не так.

Во-во-во. Какой-то небольшой ментальный запыртыч происходит у меня от таких сочетаний.

Вот не знаю, если бы он был Lloyd Santorino или Lloyd Gonzalez, был бы у меня такой же запыртыч, или нет.

С китайцами не бывает - там понятно, что это имя, которое взято потому, что Weyjuin или Yijie хрен выговоришь, вот они и пишутся как Синди Вонг и Дженнифер Чао.

it was a problem to find first name for Canadian child which would not sound weird with Russian/Jewish/Belorussian last name. It took long thinking to decide about biblical name Joseph as first name after grandfather, Henry as middle name after grandmother Henya. Hope he would not switch :)

Well, most of the popular Bible/New Testament names work fine, I think. Daniel, Joseph, Michael, Peter, Paul, Jacob, Benjamin, etc. Greek ones like Alexander, Nicholas, Leo, George all work perfectly fine with Russian last names, I think.

Also Henry is pretty much Гена. :)

the problem with Alexander is that it is always would be cut to Alex :)

First of all, there's Xander and Sandy, and then Sasha/Sacha is a legit name in itself by now.
