Date: 2003-09-29 12:00 pm (UTC)Another thought on a related note. Why is English so much better suited for snide comments and certain kinds of занудство, as it were, than Russian? Yesterday I watched both Russian and American versions of Wilde's "An Ideal Husband", and found that all those wonderful Wildecisms (now, is that a word?) become positively lackluster in the translation.
