It does take guts to call a pub in the middle of Greenwich Village "Joe's pub".

Also, on the East Side a Japanese restaurant called... ... "FISH SUSHI". But that, of course, is something from the department of redundancy department.

Contrariwise, bro! There actually are non-piscatorial sushi in existence; if you ever (and dare you not!) visit us, I hope and pray I can serve you the sushi M. makes; some of them are completely fishless (to wit, tamago-yaki sushi made from, as the name suggests, fried egg Japanese style, and much more...)

PS: as an observant Jew I exclude, of course, any mention of seafood - which is no fish by any means, though it's traditionally sushi-forming - in this posting (except for this particular sentence).

I stand corrected

(BTW, "dare you not" в качестве "попробуй только не", doesn't quite cut it, or, should I say, не совсем катит. Surely you meant "I dare you not to", not "and don't you dare") :)))

Another thought on a related note. Why is English so much better suited for snide comments and certain kinds of занудство, as it were, than Russian? Yesterday I watched both Russian and American versions of Wilde's "An Ideal Husband", and found that all those wonderful Wildecisms (now, is that a word?) become positively lackluster in the translation.

And also, Happy New Year to thee, brother!

Stupid question

actually even two
1) What's wrong with the Joe's pub?
2) I heard that you want to meet with Dimka on wednesday. Can I join you? I can go to another room to discuss stuff with [livejournal.com profile] antaran while you'd be busy creating a character =)

My child! There are no stupid questions -

- there are stupid people.

But the thing is - my meeting with Dimka will happen either at our place or on the 86th street, depending on how [livejournal.com profile] antaran is feeling. You're welcome to join us at either location, provided that I expect you to come up with a short quenta by that time.

O'k, deal =)
.... But you never said what was wrong with Joe's pub =)

You see, Greenwich Village...

...is an urban area only surpassed in pretentiousness by Montmartre, or possibly Cambridge. Whereas "Joe's Pub" sounds very much like the name of the one and only pub in Elephant Shit, Iowa.
